Pull back your dated carpet and expose the beautiful wooden flooring hiding underneath, and after a quick polish and tint, you can bring the floor back to life. Depending on your home’s style of window or doors, the sun spends a lot of time shining onto floors, so changing to a material that doesn’t absorb the light and reflects it will increase the natural light in the space.
Many homes have thick walls and small windows due to installation in the past, limiting their potential for access to natural light. Structural change may be seen as a last resort, but it truly is a long-term investment. Insert floor-to-ceiling windows or simple skylights to create a natural central light within a room. A home extension could be an option, opening your ground floor to new space and natural light. A conservatory is an excellent way to introduce new natural light and extend your living space. Consider fully exposed patio doors, creating the illusion of a large, glazed window wall that floods the home with sunlight.
